Building Sustainable Prosperity

Have you seen the BSP logo on various advertising campaigns in Northern Ireland and wondered what it is all about? The logo represents the part financing of a project by the Building Sustainable Prosperity European Structural Funding Programme. The purpose of the Funds is to help the least economically and socially developed areas of the EU to catch up with the best-developed areas. The BSP programme is worth £575 million and is the largest European Funding Programme in Northern Ireland.

A lot of money7 is therefore distributed amongst many projects throughout Northern Ireland. Some of the major projects include C2K, who are delivering a managed ICT service comprising some 40,000 networked computers to all NI schools.

Some of the more visible projects would include the Limavady Bypass and the InvestNI Start a Business Campaign. Not forgetting NI Seafood who always have the BSP logo in a prominent position at any event they attend.

The funding helps a wide range of areas from major construction projects to small environmentally friendly projects. From helping promote social inclusion to helping develop the local tourist industry.

One tourism-based project, Mourne Activity Breaks, has developed a range of quality activity breaks to attract visitors to the Mourne area.

North Down has developed the Signal Business Growth Centre to help develop new and existing businesses.

Share Holiday Village in Fermanagh have built a wind turbine and a climbing wall.

As you can see the funding is helping to build a prosperous and sustainable future for Northern Ireland.
