Seafood Week is one of the biggest, exciting and most inclusive national events of the year with thousands of seafood businesses and organisations working together to celebrate seafood and the many benefits it offers.
Now in its seventh year, Seafood Week runs from 5th - 12th October 2007. It is the biggest celebration of seafood in the UK with a track record of boosting sales across the sector.

The theme for Seafood week is '' “Celebrating the seafood industry in the UK” . This campaign aims to raise awareness of the wide variety of delicious seafood available from the Irish Sea and the many health benefits of eating it regularly. Northern Ireland Seafood will co-ordinate the regional campaign for N.Ireland and will incorporate a variety of marketing activities including; cookery demonstrations within both a variety of retail outlets as well as a selection of both primary and secondary schools.

These demonstrations will promote the alternative species of fish available, helping to achieve the long term goal of sustainability. In addition to this, NI Seafood intends be make new product ranges available in select butcher shops throughout N.Ireland as part of the Fishmongers Initiative which aims to increase fish consumption via alternate purchasing options.

Seafood Week provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to embrace and support the seafood industry. NIS would like to invite businesses to tell us about the activities which you are planning on carrying out, to enable us to inform both consumers and the media.
