visits are overseas visits to buyers organised by Northern Ireland
Seafood on behalf of their member companies.
External market visits, together with
the internal market visits, form constituent parts of identifying
possible outlets for producers and processors. in recent years
this part of the market identification process has somewhat been
ignored. Particular emphasis must be placed on those producers
and processors who are suffering less through quota cuts, such as
those involved with the pelagic species, where most of the catch
is being exported with minimum added value. Only by researching
other markets will these processors be able to identify possible
market opportunities.
